Sleepy Head
Robyn Lee
Your alarm goes off in your ear. Its 7:00 a.m. Monday morning. You are still groggy from your night out with the girls. Your muscles are aching from too much dancing and your head is still pounding to the rhythm of the beat. You hit that snooze button knowing that if you really push it you can have another ten minutes. Times up.
You heroically decide to still go to work today; you're such a trooper. You struggle out of bed, stumble down the hall, and find your way to the kitchen, humming some tune from last nights adventure. You turn the coffee maker on before heading to the facilities for your morning shower.
The hair is stuck firmly to the side of your head and the eyes are slightly blood shot but no matter that's what water was invented for. The steam is just enough to make you feel human again when you run out of hot water. With your teeth chattering and all signs of grogginess gone, you proceed to the bedroom to figure out what to wear.
Fortunately, your laundry is caught up and everything is hanging colour co-ordinated in your closet; you choose the easiest outfit you have and finally your dressed.

You make a mad dash to the kitchen to grab that cup of coffee before it turns to mud.
Next, you head back to the bathroom to complete the daily ritual of doing your hair and make up.
You jog back to the kitchen to pack your lunch.
You start putting your shoes on as you gather your purse and keys, and head out the door.
You are not car-pooling today thank goodness, so off you head to your car, only to realize that it's not starting.
Luckily, there's a bus stop on your street; you make it to the stop just in the nick of time. It's been a while since you've taken the bus, and you are relieved to learn you have the exact change. You decide to eat most of your lunch on the bus since you didn't have time for breakfast.

You find yourself growing anxious as the minutes tick on. You make it to work with five whole minutes to spare! Wait a minute; there is something wrong; the parking lot at work is eerily empty. You check your watch again; no, you are definitely on time.
Then you notice the other corporate lots in the area. They are also empty, when it dawns on you, its Monday all right, and a long weekend.
